To kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month, join Bay Area Turning Point at Clear Lake City-County Freeman Library on Thursday, October 1, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. for an engaging and informative luncheon focused on understanding domestic violence and the role each of us can play in creating safer communities
Adults – we welcome you to join us in the downstairs Meeting Room on Thursday, October 01 at 10:00 AM to the Next Chapter’s first presentation in partnership with the Houston Voting Initiative. We're looking forward to kicking off with the Houston Voting Initiative Movie Series with a special movie screening of On the Basis of Sex (2018) [PG-13], a biopic of young Ruth Bader Ginsberg, followed by a discussion led by our presenters.
Star Wars Reads is back for 2026!
Join us for an afternoon packed with activities! Learn the ways of the Force, practice your saber skills, find your bounty, and make your own [pool noodle] lightsaber! And last but not least...enter your name for one of our door prizes!
All ages are welcome to join the fun! Costumes encouraged!
For this program, we will learn some history about the connection between Mexico and the Philippines in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and Filipino American History Month. Enjoy some champorado, the Filipino version of the Mexican beverage champurrado. We will do a paintings of the sampaguita (national flower of the Philippines) and the dahlia (national flower of Mexico).

In this reading class, we'll each take turns reading an article before practicing pronunciation as a group. Questions welcome!

Cameras not required, but audio and microphone are if you want to practice reading.
We will host our next crafting event on Thursday, October 15 at 10:15 AM in the upstairs Conference Room. With guidance, participants will make their own jumbo paper clip bookmark. Materials will be provided by the Friends of Freeman Library.

This is a free 10 week course to prepare students for the 128 question United States Citizenship exam. Individuals must register for the program in person, and commit to all 10 classes. Classes are in ENGLISH and study materials are provided by us. Following the 10 weeks, students will participate in an 1-1 Mock Interview with the instructor.
Community Health & Wellness Services provided by Harris County Public Health at the Fairbanks Branch Library. Come visit the Mobile Dental Clinic for:

Follow-up visits may include a dental cleaning or basic treatment.
