To celebrate Jewish American Heritage month, discover the magical world of shadow puppetry with Daniel Barash of Firelight Shadow Theater. After first introducing audience members to the art of shadow puppetry, Daniel will perform shadow puppetry versions of best-loved folktales from the Jewish tradition. The audience will be encouraged to participate throughout the program, and volunteers will be invited up to the shadow screen to help perform the shows. See you in the land of shadows!

Daniel Barash, Director of FIRELIGHT SHADOW THEATER, lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. Over the past 20 years, he has conducted hundreds of assembly programs, workshops, and residencies at schools, museums, and libraries around the country. He holds a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from New York University, and has pioneered the use of shadow puppetry, an ancient Asian art form, in diverse secular and Jewish educational settings. Daniel performed a one-man educational theater program for more than 100,000 students across the United States, and has worked with students in Belarus, India, Laos, and Lithuania.
