Precinct 3 will host an ELQN information table at the Dia de los Muertos celebration at the Pearl Fincher Art Museum, a central community hub located next to the Barbara Bush Library. This event offers a unique opportunity to connect with Hispanic families, including Spanish-speaking community members who may not feel as comfortable engaging at county-sponsored events.
At our table, we will provide ELQN information and literature, along with children’s books on Dia de los Muertos and/or fall themes as incentives for visiting families. The ELQN mid-point survey will be available in both English and Spanish, allowing us to begin collecting valuable data, gain feedback, and gauge community knowledge of our initiatives. Translation devices will also be available to support communication.
In addition, this tabling will focus on safety, meeting community requests for resources while connecting families with their local fire and police departments. This emphasis on safety reinforces belonging and builds trust in first responders, creating a bridge between community members and essential services.
By participating in this culturally significant event, HCPL and Pct. 3 can honor and educate families on the meaning of Dia de los Muertos, while also raising awareness about ELQN initiatives. Our participation at the November 2024 event proved highly successful, and this year’s engagement builds on that positive momentum.
