Do you have a child in kindergarten through 3rd grade who loves stories—or one who could use a little extra reading support? Harris County Public Library’s Book Buddies is a FREE, fun-filled literacy program that pairs enthusiastic, trained teen volunteers (our amazing Big Buddies) with younger readers (Little Buddies) for 9 weeks of reading adventures!
Reading Sessions begin: Mondays | 4:45 PM – 5:30 PM
Harris County Public Library's Book Buddies is a FREE literacy program that pairs trained teen volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in K-3rd grade (Little Buddies) for 10 weeks to share the joy of reading. More information can be found on our website.
The next session for the Spring Branch-Memorial Branch Library will run from September 16 - November 18, 2026. The Buddies will meet on Wednesdays from 4:45 PM to 5:30 PM.
Join us for the 5th Annual Fiesta at High Meadows Branch Library, a vibrant celebration of Latino culture and community! This free, family-friendly event brings together storytelling, live music, folk art, food, activities, and much more for an unforgettable afternoon.
Meet children's authors Juliana Javierre and Xavier Garza, presented by Arte Público Press, for stories, conversation, and book signings. . Free copies of their books will be available for attendees while supplies last, with opportunities to have your book signed by the authors.
Community Health & Wellness Services provided by Harris County Public Health at the Fairbanks Branch Library. Come visit the Mobile Dental Clinic for:

Follow-up visits may include a dental cleaning or basic treatment.

This service is available from 8 am -3 pm each Monday with a lunch from 12-1.

Come and celebrate this joyous festival with us. We will do fun activities and crafts. Light refreshments (Moon Cake and drinks) will be served.
* Tickets are required for all programs, unless otherwise noted. They are free and available 30 minutes before the program begins at the children's reference desk. Tickets are limited and offered on a first come first serve basis. Lines for the tickets sometimes form before the tickets are distributed. Tickets can run out very quickly, so please plan accordingly. *
Come hang out to watch the original Pokémon anime and make some adorable Pokémon Crafts!
Come and join us in person for 30 to 45 minutes of art exploration! Our "Pour Your Art Out" after school art time is free to attend and all materials will be provided. Art projects are age-appropriate for elementary school age children and their caregivers. We will announce art subjects at the start of each program.
Sorry we cannot accommodate Daycare groups for this program.
You're invited to attend Story Time every Tuesday at 11 am.
Story Time is a great way for children to build early literacy skills with stories, rhymes and songs. Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate by sitting with children and singing (and learning!) new songs.
Last half hour is craft time! Children of all ages are welcome.
We cannot host daycares or groups.
