Do you have shoe boxes full of heritage family photographs or historical documents tucked away in a closet or other places in your home?

This season, we are thrilled to kick off a community celebration event dedicated to preserving your precious memories, by helping you scan and share the digital copies of those items!

As part of the Family Matters Engagement Program offered by the National Genealogical Society and Vivid-Pix Toolkit, we invite our community to use the visiting Vivid-Pix Memory Station, which makes the memory preservation process easier than ever.

Patrons can place up to 10 photos on the scanner at once, fix faded colors or contrast and record their own stories to attach to the photos, or even restore faded or darkened documents. In the scan process, it is possible to easily add names and dates, and even record your own voice to be attached to the digital items if you wish.

Bring 10-15 items and a flash drive any time during this all day event to learn and give the Memory Station a try.

No prior knowledge is necessary, just bring your items to scan and show up ready to learn!   After the event, the Memory Station will be available during normal library hours through February 19th.

This Scanapolooza is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the National Genealogical Society and Vivid-Pix, Lone Star College–Tomball, Harris County Public Library and the Friends of the Tomball Community Library.

Can't make it that day?  Don't worry!!  After the event, the Memory Station will be available during normal library hours through February 19th.

Just make an appointment after the event with Kyla at  kyla.bayang@hcpl.net to get started!
