Celebrating America 250: The American Revolution Experience
Step into history and discover the people, places, and events that shaped our nation. Through engaging storytelling and vivid illustrations, the exhibit’s display panels and interactive kiosks bring to life the stories behind our country’s founding.
The community is invited to a special opening reception celebration with activities for all ages. Join us for historic crafts, go on a patriotic scavenger hunt, sign the Declaration of Independence, snap a pic with Founding Fathers, participate in a patriotic reading challenge, and of course, enjoy a slice of America's birthday cake as we celebrate America 250, and welcome this incredible travelling exhibit to our community.
The American Revolution Experience introduces visitors to a cast of historical characters throughout the conflict and the places they visited on their journey, and invites visitors to consider the choice faced by members of the revolutionary generation as tensions mounted in the 1770s: Would these ordinary citizens risk their lives and livelihoods in pursuit of liberty? Or would they remain loyal subjects of the British crown, coming into conflict with neighbors and family? The exhibit surfaces a variety of experiences, and showcases historically significant Texas Treasures from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission collections, as we celebrate the role of everyday citizens in the American Revolution story.
The exhibit will be on display at the LSC - Tomball Community Library from August 29th through September 17th, during regular library business hours.
This exhibit is sponsored by the San Jacinto Chapter, Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and features panels created through a collaboration with the American Battlefield Trust and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
