Join us for a FREE 6-week writing class hosted by InPrint Houston called Entre mis brazos: Bilingual Memoir Writing- Join Texas Poet Laureate Emeritus Lupe Mendez for weekly juntas - bring something to write with and all your stories. This is about you building the layers and the branches of your life tree! Cada quien tiene un árbol lleno de historias. Each one of us has a tree full of stories. Let us see what new leaves we can turn! Here we will write about what we know about our lives based on writing ideas and platicas.

Originally from Galveston, TX, LUPE MENDEZ is the author of several collections including WHY I AM LIKE TEQUILA, PRAYER HOLDING NIGHT: NEW & SELECTED WORKS and WE EXIST IN THE WHISPER: HUELGA SCHOOL VERSES. He earned an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and his work has appeared online and in print. He is the founder of TINTERO PROJECTS which works to provide a platform for Latinx writers and other writers of color in the Texas Gulf Coast, with Houston as its hub. Mendez is Texas Poet Laureate Emeritus (2022-2023) and lives in Houston, where he has been an educator for over 20 years.
