It's that time again! Book Buddies is a FREE literacy program that brings teens and children (Kinder-3rd) together to share the joy of reading. This is a 10 week program that meets once a week for 45 minutes. Our first meeting will be September 11th so sign up now! For more information click here.

Adults – we welcome you to join us in the upstairs Innovation Lab Classroom on Thursday, October 01 at 10:00 AM to the Next Chapter’s first presentation in partnership with the Houston Voting Initiative. We're looking forward to kicking off with the Houston Voting Initiative Movie Series with a special movie screening of On the Basis of Sex (2018) [PG-13], a biopic of young Ruth Bader Ginsberg, followed by a discussion led by our presenters.

The Friends of the Northwest Branch Library are holding their semi-annual book sale! A whole room of books for all ages, movies, music, and more! Most everything will be $1-$2 and 100% of the money earned at the sale go right back to the Northwest library to help fund our programs. So go crazy, give in to your inner book goblin! After all, it's not an addiction! It's giving back to your community!

Promotes early literacy skills. The program features reading, singing, talking, writing and playing. We will help give you the resources you need to expand your child’s skills, preparing them to read. Recommended for children ages 2-5 years, it features age appropriate stories, songs, and fingerplays. Story time is an excellent way to bond with your child, boost their vocabulary, and hopefully raise a lifelong reader. Studies have shown that regularly reading to your child can increase their attention span, boost their emotional intelligence, and flex their imagination.
