The artists whose works are examined in this presentation have responded to the dynamics of the cultural and political situations confronting them. The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is recognized for its outstanding collection of contemporary African American art. Some artists covered during this presentation may be familiar to you, but you will also be introduced to others, who though they may not be as well known, are significant. The messages contained in their works contribute to our understanding of their reality and deserve our thoughtful consideration."
