  • Please join the DACAMERA Young Artists for a concert celebrating Black History Month. Appropriate for all ages, this performance will feature pieces written by Black composers through a variety of styles and eras. The Young Artists will guide listeners through the cultural significance, history, and meaning behind each piece, allowing for a meaningful evening of learning and musical discovery.

Join us at the Fairbanks Branch Library for a Free Financial Literacy Workshop: Making Your Money Work for You

This Free Financial Workshop will be held on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm in the Adult Programming Area in the Main Library of Fairbanks Branch Library. 

Newcomers always welcome! 

This program is being provided by Independent Agents of Primerica Financial Services.  This is an educational program only. 

 It will be available in English and Spanish.

Celebrate Black History Month by creating your own colorful abstract art in the style of African-American artist Reginald "Reggie" Laurent! Join us in the Fairbanks Library meeting room for this fun and easy art project and create a masterpiece using oil pastels, paint, and markers. Your artwork will be yours to keep. 

This program is designed for children aged 6 to 11 years old but siblings of other ages are welcome too! 

No registration required.

HCPL has partnered with Oldways to present classes on how to eat healthy by following a traditional African diet!

This program will feature two dishes rich in vegetables, spices, and beans. Those dishes are:

  • Black Eyed Pea Salad
  • Blackened Okra

Library staff will give a presentation on the dishes and prepare them for everyone to share! 

This event will be held on the 1st floor in the Children's Activity Space.

Registration is required.
