Family Playdate Workshop

The Family Workshop is a six-week program intended for children, aged 5 years and under, and their caregivers. Caregivers and children gather in a room with passive toys that encourage creative play and learning. The sessions will also include a local child expert who will provide information and answer questions and concerns of caregivers on topics related to early child development.

Join us at the Katy Library for Flower Hour, a preschool story time, from 11:15 am-12 pm. This event will take place on the carpet in the children's section of the library. Come dance, sing, and grow while we read books together!

Join us for Bilingual Storytime at Jacinto Library Branch for weekly storytime fun!


Bilingual Storytime uses songs, age appropriate stories, and crafts/playtime to engage children and their parents/caregivers.

This program is designed to help promote early literacy skills, support your bond with your child(ren), and hopefully turn your little reader into a life-long reader!

We look forward to seeing you!

Recommended for children between the ages of 2-5 yrs.

Ahí, entre los valles de Oaxaca, la Sierra y las costas istmeñas, quedan sólidos vestigios del pueblo zapoteco. La técnica artesanal pasa de generación en generación, de familia en familia, enlazando la habilidad y la experiencia con el conocimiento ancestral de miles de mujeres zapotecas. Ninguna flor es igual a la otra, todas son únicas e irrepetibles como cada ser humano, así definen su arte las mujeres del Istmo de Tehuantepec.

Alebrijes are spirits that guide, accompany, and protect us throughout our lives. A vivid representative of Mexican and Oaxacan folk art that is traditionally carved from copal wood, painted with exquisite detail, and vibrant colors.

In this craft, we will make and decorate our own alebrijes out of paper! Use them as a bookmark! All ages are welcome. 

Materials provided: crayons, markers, stickers and construction paper.

Join us every other Tuesday at 4:45 to create and build with LEGOs!
We will have the option of LEGO challenges or free build during our building session. At the end of our session you can share and display your creations at the JC Library for the month. 

*This program is for ages 6-12 but siblings are always welcome.
