Celebrate USA 250 with an engaging exploration of American birds. Children will encounter iconic species from across the country, including a few that once lived in the White House as presidential pets, while nurturing a love of nature and growing into environmentally aware citizens.

Start summer with a little creativity at the library! Children in grades K–8 can drop in to paint, draw, craft, and explore using a variety of art supplies and donated materials. Families are welcome to relax, create together, and stock up on books before summer adventures begin.

No ticket is required. Free and open to the public - just stop by and create!

Join us on Wednesday, June 3rd at 2:00 PM to learn to doodle dinosaurs! This program is for children ages 6-9. Siblings welcome!
In this class, Dalton Stark will share his personal process for doodling dinosaurs — encouraging creativity, and having fun with shape language to discover their own unique way of drawing prehistoric life.

Dalton is a Texas-based artist who loves drawing dinosaurs. His creature-focused artwork is inspired by a lifelong passion for paleontology, an appreciation for biodiversity, and a deep devotion to drawing.

Step into the prehistoric world with Dino Academy! Led by the quirky and curious Dr. Sarah Tops, this action-packed adventure uncovers fascinating Dino facts that will wow even the biggest Dino fans. Featuring life-like, colorful dinosaur puppets that stomp, roar and charm their way into every heart, this show blends science, storytelling and imagination in the style of your favorite nature programs. 

This program is best for Pre-K-5th graders, but all ages are welcome!

Take a moment to sit back, relax, and enjoy reading out loud to a cute, gentle therapy dog. Practice reading out loud at our "Read to Dogs" event. You can bring your own book, or choose from the many books available here at the library. This program is for all ages.

Houston Grand Opera is thrilled to bring you the Storybook Opera performance of “The Armadillo's Dream." Children of all ages will enjoy storytelling by an opera singer. This program is bilingual in English-Spanish.
