HCPL has partnered with Oldways to present classes on how to eat healthy by following a traditional Latin American diet!

This program will feature two dishes rich in herbs, spices, and tubers. Those dishes are:

  • Porotos Granados (Cranberry Bean Stew)
  • Sikil Pak (Mayan Pumpkin Seed Dip)

Library staff will give a presentation on the dishes and prepare them for everyone to share! 

This event will be held in the Children's Activity Space.

Led by DACAMERA Young Artists, kids identify patterns in everyday life and in music and have the opportunity to create musical patterns of their own. Remixed for Hispanic Heritage Month, participants learn about rhythmic patterns from various Hispanic countries and musical genres.

Join us in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Classical Sing Move Play: Music of Mexico!

The Music of Mexico class, created by opera singers, Alisa and Alejandro Magallón, explores some of the most well known tunes from traditional Mexican music and nursery songs.

Classical Sing Move Play classes provide an introduction to melody, rhythm, instrument play time, and movement with music from famous operas and classical symphonies to folk songs.

Recommended for ages 2-5. Children of all ages are welcome.

Join us for a bilingual story time presented by Classical Sing Move Play! Presenters will bring to life If you Sing a Song to a Dragon, an original tale by Alisa Magallón. With rhyming, songs, and theatrical interpretations of the text, kids will get to experience musical discovery and creativity while exploring the world of visual arts. This program is open to all ages.

THIS IS A TICKETED EVENT. TICKETS WILL BE GIVEN OUT 30 MINUTES BEFORE SHOWTIME ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS. 80 TICKETS MAX.
