Join us at the library for the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion's Instrument Petting Zoo, powered by Ovintiv. During the program kids will have the chance to get up close and personal with the musical instruments they see professionally played on stage. Various instruments, including ukeleles, violins and drums are set up for the kids to touch, hold and play. We will start with a 30-minute reading featuring Classical Sing Move Play-an interactive story time opportunity performed by a trained Houston Grand Opera artist!

Enjoy some time to bond with your baby and meet new friends. This program is for babies and will feature lap-sit stories, songs, activities and time to socialize with others. Story time is an excellent way to bond with your child, boost their vocabulary, and hopefully raise a lifelong reader. Studies have shown that regularly reading to your child can increase their attention span, boost their emotional intelligence, and flex their imagination. A free ticket is required and can be picked up at the information desk 30 minutes prior to the program.
Discover how music can tell a story during this interactive program inspired by Jonathan Booker’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Participants will listen for the musical “caterpillar motif” and move along with the performance before taking part in the “Butterfly Ballet,” using sound and movement to explore each stage of the butterfly life cycle.
