Summer Reading Program

Learn how to create your own Dungeons and Dragons character! We will be using 5th edition (2014) rules. All necessary items will be provided.

NOTE: this is a young adult program and is aimed at ages 13 through 18. Content may not be appropriate for younger children. Children under age 13 may attend at their parent or guardian's discretion.

Looking for a laid-back, adults-only book club with no required reading?

Join our Reader’s Choice book club, where you can share whatever you’re currently reading! It’s a relaxed, no-pressure group that meets on the second Thursday of each month at 1 PM. Whether you’ve just finished a book or are looking for inspiration, come share or simply listen in.

Teens, create fabulous fashion by cutting, pinning, sewing, and painting t-shirts! If you can, bring one or more prewashed t-shirts in the size of your choice. We will have some shirts on hand, but we can't guarantee sizes. 

This program is for ages 12-18 years old.

Starting May 1, stop by the Crosby Library to sign up for a weekly take-home mystery available this summer. Tweens and teens ages 9 and up are invited to take part in this thrilling case to uncover the Mystery of the Missing Bigfoot.

This detective-style whodunit includes six mystery packets to be solved over the course of the summer. Registration is required - please see the front desk for details and registration

Enjoy some time to bond with your baby and meet new friends. This program is for babies and will feature lap-sit stories, songs, activities and time to socialize with others. Story time is an excellent way to bond with your child, boost their vocabulary, and hopefully raise a lifelong reader. Studies have shown that regularly reading to your child can increase their attention span, boost their emotional intelligence, and flex their imagination. A free ticket is required and can be picked up at the information desk 30 minutes prior to the program.

Teens are invited to attend a 3D Printer orientation, where they will earn the 3D Printer badge that they can use to 3D print at any available HCPL location, and they'll also get to 3D print an item of their choosing! 

All materials and snacks will be provided. This program is for teens ages 13-18.

Freeman Branch Library presents the one and only Courtney Lee! Join us for musical story time with songs, stories, and much more! Recommended for children ages 3 to 10 years old who are ready to dance and have fun with Miss Courtney and her guitar!

Tickets are required for all programs, unless otherwise noted. They are free and available 30 minutes before the program begins at the Children's Reference Desk. Tickets are limited and offered on a first come, first served basis. Tickets can run out very quickly so please plan accordingly.
