"Born to Read" is a weekly story time filled with stories, songs, movement, interactive elements, and sensory play to promote early literacy development for babies and toddlers.

Bring your broken items to our Repair Café, where various volunteer repair coaches are on hand to help repair your items free of charge. We have tools and commonly needed materials on hand during the event. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to fix everything, but we are pretty sure you will have a good time while you are here. The Baldwin Boettcher library will facilitate a workshop on how to navigate the Family Search Database. We will meet in the main room of the Baldwin Boettcher Branch Library using the public computers.  We will instruct the participants on how to search for their ancestors beginning with their parents.

The Baldwin Boettcher Branch Library will host five consecutive beginning Spanish classes for adults ages 18+. The instructor will introduce basic Spanish phrases, and the students will have a chance to speak the phrases. We will meet in the Baldwin Boettcher Branch meeting room.

Celebrate with us Saturday, October 11th from 2 to 4 pm in the Baldwin Boettcher Library conference room with authentic Filipino food sponsored by Filipino American National Historical Society - Houston Chapter. There will also be background music, learning, and fun!

It will be hosted by Dr. Pinky, a Filipina American author and founder of Kuwento Co. A publishing company that in Filipino means "Story". She is also a Community Liason of FANHS-HTX.   She will be guiding us in the history, and family search with a collaborative project we will all do together!

The Baldwin Boettcher Branch Library hosts English classes for adults ages 18+ who are interested in learning to speak the English language or improve their English-speaking skills. We teach basic English grammar subjects and words that relate to basic life skills. The students have the opportunity to practice speaking the English language with other students.

Join us for a free class to help you prepare for your naturalization interview and civics test. You must complete an English placement assessment to join the class. Taking this class will not grant citizenship or pay for any application fees. Registration is required as space is limited.

Join us for our weekly homeschool meet up, where kids can engage in STEAM activities such as building challenges, fiber art crafts, science experiments, process art, games, and more, all while having fun and socializing. Parents/caregivers are welcome to join each other in the library for an informational session and networking.

*Recommended for children ages 5-11, under 5 must have an accompanying adult.

Unlock the secrets of scientific classification! Participants will learn the principles of creating dichotomous keys, a fundamental tool used by scientists to identify and categorize organisms. Develop your analytical skills and deepen your understanding of biological classification.
