Get ready for a fun and educational afternoon at our Special Literacy Program with Orbit!
Join us on Thursday, May 28th at 2:00 PM at the San Jacinto Community Center (604 Highland Woods Dr, Highlands, TX 77562) for a memorable event the whole family will enjoy. Meet the Astros’ beloved mascot, Orbit, snap a photo with him, and take part in activities that celebrate the joy of reading and learning.
Join with other toddlers and parents/caregivers for weekly story time fun! Toddler Time uses age appropriate stories, songs and finger plays to engage toddlers and their parents/caregivers. This story time is geared towards toddlers ages 18 months through 3 years.
Tickets are required and will be handed out at the Children's Desk starting 30 minutes prior. Children must have a ticket to attend Toddler Time.
Join us as we celebrate the beginning of the Summer Reading Program. Come sign-up for SRP, learn about the library activities available this summer, explore the services of our community partners, and have food and fun!
Join us on Tuesdays at 10:30 am for Baby Story Time! This 30-minute Story Time program is designed for babies from birth to 18 months old. We share books, songs, rhymes, music, bubbles, and toys! We also learn some early literacy tips and activities. It’s a great way to meet other caregivers and to give your baby a chance to socialize.
Siblings are always welcome.
This program is held in our library meeting room.
No registration or tickets required.
Join us every Saturday in our children's area for a family-friendly Story Time with Sawyer, a certified therapy dog, and his human, Betsy!
Join us for a DINO-MITE film festival every Friday.
1:00 to 3:30 p.m., kids under 10 can enjoy fun, age-appropriate dinosaur themed cartoons and movies.
3:30 to 6:00 p.m., tweens and adults can experience thrilling dinosaur adventures.

Tales for Tots is a hands-on early literacy program for toddlers aged 24 months to 3 years, focusing on parent-child interactions. Each week is packed with fun as we sing, talk, read, and play, our way through exciting stories, catchy songs, wiggle-worthy movement, creative crafts, and more. A fun and engaging way to develop early literacy skills while making new friends!
How to Attend We want to ensure a positive experience for everyone, but we need your help.
Join other caregivers every other Thursday to discuss life after giving birth, parenting, and "the fourth trimester".
This week’s story time will be replaced with a toddler playdate, giving caregivers and toddlers a chance to socialize and enjoy free play together!
