The Meta4 Slam Series continues with "The Silent H" Community Qualifier Slam. The event begins with an open mic, followed by a Poetry Slam Qualifier competition event. Performers in the qualifier have the opportunity to advance to semi-finals, the final 12, and (ultimately) earn a spot on the Meta4 poetry slam national competition team.

All Houston-area poets ages 13-19 are eligible to participate. Slams are open-mic style—no registration needed! Simply show up ready to perform.

Meet the team here!

With no assigned book or group discussion, Introvert Happy Hour Book Club is ideal for those who want the community of a book club without the homework, conversation, and social pressure. Please join us in the Upstairs Conference Room on the second Monday of the month to read silently as a group without any discussion and enjoy light refreshments provided by the Friends of Freeman Library. The door opens at 6:00 PM.

Turn the classic origami paper fortune teller into a poetic flower! After folding the paper into a fortune teller, we will write words and phrases on the petals. Then we'll pick random flowers and use the words on the petals to create poems.

This program is intended for ages 8-18.
