Pick up your ticket at the front desk. Tickets are free and available at 4pm, 30 minutes before the program starts. Tickets are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so please plan accordingly. You must be here in person to redeem a ticket.
In this lesson, children will learn about the origin of mariachi, the "King of Mariachi" Vicente Herandez, and what makes mariachi unique as a style of music. Kids will learn standard musical terms and their definitions like melody, bass, and tempo. These terms will be reinforced with games and live examples utilizing mariachi music that will get them up and moving.
Overall, a child will walk away with newfound knowledge on the history of mariachi, an important mariachi figure, pattern recognition in real life and in music, as well basic knowledge of musical terms and the roles they play. Plus, they will get to have some fun playing group games that apply their knowledge!
This program is best suited for ages Kinder-3rd grade, but all ages are welcome!
