Being the first in your family to attend college is an exciting accomplishment, but it can also come with a lot of questions.
First-Gen & College Ready is designed to help first-generation college students and future college students better understand what to expect and how to successfully navigate the college experience.
Participants will learn about important parts of the college journey that may not always be explained, including understanding college terminology, communicating with professors and advisors, choosing classes, finding academic and campus resources, managing college responsibilities, understanding financial aid expectations, and knowing when and how to ask for help.
The workshop will also explore common challenges first-generation students may experience while adjusting to college and provide practical strategies for building a support system, advocating for yourself, staying organized, and making informed academic and career decisions.
Whether you're preparing to start college or already enrolled, this workshop will provide helpful tools, resources, and guidance to help you feel more prepared to navigate college and take ownership of your college journey.
