ESL Classes (Various Levels)

All of HCPL English-learning classes are taught by trained volunteer tutors and are completely free to attend. Learning materials are provided.

Beginner ESL Classes for Adults who speak little or no English. You will practice speaking, reading, writing and listening.

Advanced ESL Classes & Conversation Club for Adults who want to reach fluency in English. Practice speaking, reading, writing and listening with native speakers in a nonjudgmental environment.

Adults! Bring your extra plants or seeds and trade them for something new to grow. This event is also a great opportunity to mingle with other plant lovers, share tips, and chat about your favorite varieties.

General Guidelines - to help keep the swap fun and successful for everyone:

  • Bring plants in pots that you're willing to give away.
  • All plants must be healthy, pest and disease-free.
  • Please avoid invasive species.
  • Label each plant if possible

Are you looking for a way to continue to improve your English skills? ESL Classes are underway at the Aldine Branch Library.

The Aldine Branch Library will be offering:

ESL - 1 (in-person)We will meet once a week on Thursdays August 6th, 2026 - September 24th from 10:30am - 11:30am

A pre-assessment test is required. Our Literacy Coordinator will help determine the right class for you.

These courses are free of charge.
