Word Crafters is a writing group that meets every Wednesday at 3:30 pm in the conference room of Baldwin Boettcher Library. No registration is necessary.

We do prompts share, discuss, and encourage.

Are you interested in continuing your English learning past the basics? Come to the Aldine Branch Library for a free English class for advanced beginner speakers.

  • Class is once a week on Thursdays from 12 - 1:30 p.m. 
  • It is an 8 week session from August 6th to September 24th, 2026.
  • Registration is required in order to attend.

This orientation session will introduce participants to laser cutter services within the Harris County Public Library system. Those completing the class will then be able to schedule a time to use a laser cutter at HCPL maker locations. This class is appropriate for patrons ages 12 and up. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Practice your English with this conversational class in a welcoming, stress-free environment. This class is also part of our Summer Reading Program for adults. Gain points from attending classes and doing the reading assignments!

This class is for people who already know a little about using a computer and want to learn how to design custom projects in Canva and bring them to life using a Cricut cutting machine. Over 6 weeks, we will practice navigating Canva’s easy design tools, working with fonts and shapes, and learning the "secret" to moving your designs into the Cricut software to create professional-looking items like personalized cards, vinyl decals, and gift tags.

Join us on Fridays at 1PM to craft and chat. 

Everyone is welcome to knit, crochet, cross-stitch, sew, needlepoint, or embroider with us! Some members donate finished items to local charities.

We are happy to help old and new crafters with their projects, but this is not a formal class.Please bring your own supplies.

Are you looking for a way to continue to improve your English skills? ESL Classes are underway at the Aldine Branch Library.

The Aldine Branch Library will be offering:

ESL - 1 (in-person)We will meet once a week on Thursdays August 6th, 2026 - September 24th from 10:30am - 11:30am

A pre-assessment test is required. Our Literacy Coordinator will help determine the right class for you.

These courses are free of charge.
