Lit Chat Adult Book Club is usually a reader’s-choice group, but this month we’ll be discussing The Librarians by Sherry Thomas in honor of Gulf Coast Reads.

Gulf Coast Reads is a regional initiative that encourages communities on the Texas Gulf Coast to read the same book and come together for meaningful discussions throughout October. Whether you’re a longtime member or a first-time attendee, we’d love to have you join the conversation.

Do you knit/crochet/craft? Please join us for our weekly meeting of the Knotty and Nice Club. We meet for 2 hours and socialize while working on our own projects or community charity projects. Please note that this is not a class but people are always available to help you if you need a LITTLE help. If you have never knitted or crocheted, the library offers many books and a few DVDs to learn. You can find many helpful videos on YouTube as well.

August 11: The Ghostwriter by Julia Alvarez

September 8: Tell Me Everything by Elizabeth Strout

October 13: The Librarians by Sherry Thomas (Gulf Coast Reads)

Do you want to volunteer your time to help the library and provide feedback for our programming? Join us once a month for our open FOL meetings! We are looking for a dedicated group of members who can help fundraise and let us know what the community wants from the library. Try it out! We are always looking for new members!

Your resume tells employers what you’ve done—your cover letter tells them who you are. Join us for a lively Cover Letter Presentation where we’ll spill the secrets to grabbing attention, showing personality, and making hiring managers say, ‘We need to meet this person!’ Whether you’re applying for your first job or your dream job, you’ll leave inspired and ready to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard).
