Summer Reading Program

There will be a brief lesson for beginners at the beginning of the session. Each class go over the following:

  1. How each chess pieces move
  2. Chess rules
  3. Review how to use a chess clock
  4. How to use notation
  5. How to set up the chess board
  6. Discuss special moves
  7. Describe check and checkmate
  8. Review chess principals
  9. Cover minor tactics
  10. Discuss end game principals
  11. Then members will get a chance to play each other

**Ages 9-17 ONLY & FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE**

Join us on Monday, July 13, at 4pm for Stage Combat: Dancing with Swords, an interactive children's program presented by iACT Houston. (Ages 8-11)  Students will learn to use the traditional positions of fencing to choreograph their own stage combat combination/scene!  Students will practice with special safety foam swords. 

This is a ticketed program, so please visit the front desk 15 minutes before the class begins.  Due to the physical nature of the event, waivers will be required.

Love food, TikTok recipes, or trying something new? Join our 5-session cooking club and learn how to make fun, tasty recipes while building your kitchen skills and trying new flavors.

Come to all 5 sessions for a chance to win a starter kitchen set complete with pots, pans, and more cooking essentials!

No experience is required and all ingredients and materials will be provided. 

This program is for ages 12-17.

He will discuss the basics of AI, how to use it safely and wisely, as well as the pros and cons of AI. All ages are welcome, but most of the presentation will be geared towards teens and adults. Come and have all your AI questions answered.

Get ready for Kingwood Library's 5th Annual Jigsaw Puzzle Tournament.

This event is open to teens and adults.

Team size limited to 2 - 4 persons. Tournament is limited to 10 teams.

Only one team member needs to register for the whole team.

Special thanks to the Friends of the Library Kingwood (FOLK) for purchasing the puzzles.
