Get ready to get spooky! In this hands-on Halloween workshop, teens ages 12-17 will learn the basics of special effects makeup, including creating realistic wounds, scars, bruises, and other creepy effects. Teens will get to explore simple techniques, practice their creativity, and transform themselves into Halloween-ready characters.

All makeup and materials are provided. No experience required.

Teens, join us at the South Houston Branch Library for a fun evening of Kahoot! This activity will feature a variety of trivia topics that the audience can choose from.

This event is part of the Teen Advisory Board series and is meant to serve as a social for members to get to know one another. If you are curious as to what the Teen Advisory Board is, come and find out! No registration is required. Ages 14-18 only!

Join us for in-person, advanced English Conversational classes! These classes will meet on Monday evenings from 6:30 pm- 7:30 pm and Saturday mornings from 11 am- 12pm.Come build speaking confidence, overcome the fear of making mistakes, and improve real-time pronunciation in a low-pressure setting.

*Registration and examination is required. To register, please come to our branch to fill out the registration form and to complete a 25-question English test, to ensure this is the right level for you.

Join us for a free class to help you prepare for your naturalization interview and civics test. You must complete an English placement assessment to join the class. Taking this class will not grant citizenship or pay for any application fees. Registration is required as space is limited.

A.M.I.G.O.S. (Amigos Meeting Intended Goals of South Houston) Friends of the South Houston Library is a nonprofit 501 c3 volunteer group that meets once a month. If you are ready to make a difference and help them raise funds for programs such as the Summer Reading Program, after-school programs, and cultural programming and activities, we invite you to join them!

Come sing, dance, and play with your little one! This program is perfect for babies and toddlers up to age 5. Together, we will sing songs, play with fun props, make a simple musical craft, all while burning off some energy. It is a great way for your child to learn, make friends, and have fun! 

Parent and caregiver participation is strongly encouraged.
