Celebrate Roald Dahl Day with a night of childhood nostalgia, mayhem, and one very unexpected transformation. 

Revisit a story that may have fascinated—or slightly terrified—you as a kid, as a nine-year-old boy has to save the world and suddenly finds himself much smaller than usual . Come hungry and enjoy our loaded baked potato bar while we take a trip back to the wonderfully weird movies of childhood.

Harris County Public Library's Book Buddies is a FREE literacy program that pairs trained teen volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in K-3rd grade (Little Buddies) for 10 weeks to share the joy of reading. More information can be found on our website.

The next session for the Atascocital Branch Library will run from September 8 - November 17, 2026. The Buddies will meet on Tuesdays from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM.

Participants will explore the lively sounds of Cuban music, discover the importance of the clave rhythm, and enjoy an interactive experience filled with music, movement, and hands-on fun. This engaging program celebrates the rich traditions of Hispanic culture while fostering cultural awareness, curiosity, and a sense of community through the universal language of music.

 Class meets once a week on Mondays for 2 hours. The materials are provided by the library at no cost.
