Looking for volunteer opportunities? Interested in making a difference in your community? Join the Teen Advisory Board!

WHAT IS TAB?

The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a volunteer group engaged in library programming. Our mission is to empower teens through the creation, promotion and implementation of events at the High Meadows Branch Library.

Participation in TAB counts as service hours for any honor, scholar, or religious organization. Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month.

This orientation session will introduce participants to Cricut operation and software in the library. This orientation session is mandatory before patrons can schedule time to use the Cricut.

This class is appropriate for ages 8 and up.Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.Registration required.

Step into the Literacy League, where stories come to life! Literacy League Emblem Our Chapter Champions (teens) are ready to guide your Story Seekers (children; grades K-3rd) through the wonders of the written word in stories, information, and books. The Literacy League is a literacy program to provide teen mentorship and guidance to K-3rd graders pursuant to establishing and promoting a culture of literacy and books at the library and beyond into their home Reading Refuge.

Join us at the Parker Williams Library Innovation Lab for our Laser Cutter Orientation!

This orientation session will introduce participants to the laser-cutting services we offer at the library. Those who complete the orientation will then be able to request supervised time to use a laser cutter at any HCPL branch that has one. 

Attending this orientation is mandatory before patrons can request time to use a laser cutter in the future.

Registration is required.

Learn how to book time with the Kingwood Library’s Singer Sewing Machine! This orientation session will introduce participants to sewing machine operation. Those who complete the class will be able to request time to use a sewing machine at HCPL branches. Attending this orientation is mandatory before patrons can request time to use a sewing machine.

Please note that this is not a sewing instruction class. Participants will learn basic machine operation only.

Teens ages 12-18 can register to play the popular roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons at the Spring Branch-Memorial Branch Library (930 Corbindale Rd. Houston, TX 77024)! All supplies will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own dice and character!

Community Health & Wellness Services provided by Harris County Public Health at the Fairbanks Branch Library.  Come visit the Mobile Dental Clinic for:
First visits include a dental screening.
Follow-up visits may include a dental cleaning or basic treatment.

Adults and Children are welcome

Walk-ins are Welcome

This service is available from 8 am -3 pm each Monday with a lunch from 12-1.

Gotta catch ‘em all! Bring your cards and enjoy all things Pokémon! Activities include watching shows/movies, playing games and crafts.

Every 2nd Friday of the month @ 4-5:30pm, for ages 9-12

(Older Teens are welcome, and 7-8 yr olds are welcome with parental attendance.)


September 12th: Trading Cards & Scavenger Hunt

October 10th: Trading Cards & Pokémon Trivia: Spooky Edition (Show off your Halloween style—extra points for dressing up as your favorite Pokémon!)

November 14th: Trading Cards & Chill

Join us on the first and third Thursdays of the month at Inklings, our teen creative writing club. Bring your writing to share and get feedback from other teens. Any kind of writing is welcome, from short stories to fanfiction, poetry to novels! This program is open to ages 12-17, 18 if in high school. Email virginia.gonzalez@hcpl.net for more information.
