Join the Teen Advisory Committee (TAC): Lead, Serve, and Create!

Are you a teen in grades 7–12 looking to make a real impact in your community? The West University Branch Library is seeking motivated young leaders to join the Teen Advisory Committee (TAC). As a formal body of teen advocates, the TAC bridges the gap between Harris County youth, community, and library administration through service, advocacy, and leadership.

Join us for light refreshments as we welcome a local author for story time fun. 

This program for ages 3 and up. 

The local author is Ryanne Siddiq, best selling author of "Speedy Phoebe" and the Carson Elementary series.

Teens ages 12-18 are invited to learn how to bake homemade jam tarts from a recipe in Michaels Desserts by Michael Platt at the Spring Branch-Memorial Branch Library on Thursday, February 26th at 4:30pm.

This recipe includes dairy, fruit, gluten, egg, and sugar. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies.

A waiver is required to attend the program which will be emailed upon registration.

In honor of Black History Month, we are going to be making a paper bag backpack inspired by Ruby Bridges desire to get an education. She was the first African American student to integrate an elementary school in the South. 

This program is geared for kids ages 6 and up.

Join us for a monthly event designed to help reluctant or shy readers gain confidence, with the help of some very good dogs. Paws for Therapy will provide trained therapy dogs, ready to help your child practice their reading! Each participant will get 10 minutes to read a book of their choice to a friendly, non-judgmental dog. It’s guaranteed to be a doggone good time.

Reserve your spot the day of the event by selecting a time slot on our sign-up sheet 30 minutes prior to the program.

Teens ages 13-18 can register to play the popular roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons at the Spring Branch-Memorial Branch Library (930 Corbindale Rd. Houston, TX 77024)! All supplies will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own dice and wear a costume!
