Join us for an interactive early literacy experience for preschoolers and their caregivers. This program is geared toward children ages 3-6 years old and features songs, books, and crafts each week!

This program is a wonderful way to promote early literacy, social skills, and kindergarten readiness skills!

Space is limited. Please pick up your free tickets at the Children's Reference Desk the morning of the program to gain entry to Sapling story time.

Looking for fun things to do during spring break? Come spend the afternoon at the library! There will crafts (while supplies last), snacks, and fun music to listen to while you enjoy your week off. This program is for adults and teens.

AARP Tax Aide will once again be available at the Northwest Branch Library. This service will be available Fridays from 1 pm to 5 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 2 pm. Service Begins: Friday, February 6, 2026 – Ends: Wednesday, April 15, 2026. No service on Friday, April 3 or Saturday, April 4 due to the Easter holiday.

Celebrate Black History Month and the rich cultural heritage of Texas with us! HCPL has partnered with Oldways to present classes on how to eat healthfully by following recipes inspired by a traditional African diet!

Join Michael, Octavia Field Library Branch's Children's Librarian, for an hour of nursery rhymes, storytelling, arts & crafts and playtime. We'll talk, sing, write, read and play, and your toddler age kiddos will have so much fun that they won't even realize they are gaining valuable pre-literacy skills. Ages 0-5.

Join us for a free class to help you prepare for your naturalization interview and civics test. An English assessment must be taken for class admittance. Taking this class does not grant citizenship or pay for any application fees. Registration is required as space is limited.

Each week is packed with fun as we sing, talk, read, and play, our way through exciting stories, catchy songs, wiggle-worthy movement, creative crafts, and more. A fun and engaging way to develop early literacy skills while making new friends!
