Welcome to Will It Waffle?! — the ultimate teen food competition where creativity gets crispy and things might get a little wild.
This teen (16 and up) & adult program uses Library of Congress women’s suffrage primary sources, such as letters, diaries, and women’s self-published information sources, to examine how suffragists documented their activism and feelings on women’s rights and social issues of the time.
Program attendees use recycled books, scrapbook paper, stamps, ephemera and personal effects to start their own scrapbook and create their own DIY personal history (that might become a future primary source!).
Join us at the library for a free 6-week group parenting workshop presented by DePelchin Children's Center and ParentingHelp. Learn about the value of play, child development, coping with stress, positive parenting, supportive parenting behaviors and forming support networks. Also, meet new friends and let your kids have a great play date at the library. If interested come to the first session or register at the library. This workshop is for parents and their children ages birth-5.
AARP Tax Aide will once again be available at the Northwest Branch Library. This service will be available Fridays from 1 pm to 5 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 2 pm. Calling all brick builders, are you up for a challenge? Teams will work to creatively complete a different build mission in an hour each month! Grades 4 to 12.
Join us for an informative presentation by Alzheimer’s Association on Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia on Tuesday, March 17, at 2 PM. Recognize common warning signs of Alzheimer’s and learn what symptoms to look for in yourself and others.
Join with other preschoolers and parents/caregivers for weekly story time fun! Preschool Story Time uses age appropriate stories, songs and finger plays, and a take-home craft to engage preschoolers and their parents/caregivers. This story time is geared towards kids ages 3-5 years.
Tickets are required and will be handed out at the Children's Desk starting 30 minutes prior. Children must have a ticket to attend Preschool Story Time.
