Paws For Therapy “Read to a Dog”
Join us from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the Children’s section of the library. “Paws for Therapy” is a group of volunteers in the Houston area who enjoy sharing their trained therapy dogs with those in need of love and comfort. Reading can be hard, so kids, ages 5-11 can get comfortable and practice their reading skills with a trained therapy dog.
Need a quiet place to read or get through your homework? Drop into Focus Mode at the library, an after-school sanctuary with calm vibes, cozy seating, and relaxing lo-fi beats.
Join us for a special National Recycling Day celebration focused on protecting our planet and giving back to our community. This free, family-friendly event is a partnership between Harris County Office of Sustainability, HCPL, Moonshot, and Houston Zoo.
Grab your cape and join us for an epic journey through the world of superheroes! Each month we’ll watch a different superhero movie or TV show, share fan theories, and dive into comic book origins and character backstories. Snacks provided! Please note that we will be showing PG-13 rated films and shows. Participants must be between the ages of 13-18.

This class is designed for students who are interested in learning and /or practicing speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills in English. Classes are free and all materials are provided.

This program, offered on Tuesdays at 10:15 AM provides children (ages 3-5) with early literacy skills through oral language, phonological awareness, and print recognition (also known as books, rhymes and songs). Crafts or coloring sheets will be provided for children at the end of story time.
