Where Are We Going?
We look forward to visiting Galveston with an afternoon tour of the Bryan Museum.
Historic Strand District - Galveston
We'll kick off our visit to Galveston by strolling down the Historic Strand. Once known as the “Wall Street of the Southwest”, Galveston’s famed avenue, The Strand, anchors the historic downtown. Recognized as a National Historic Landmark for its outstanding collection of 19th Century architecture.
Trip goers are responsible for paying for any souvenirs they might choose while on the Strand.
*Unfortunately, none of the buses with the wheelchair/scooter lift are available for this excursion. We cannot accommodate trip goers needing to use wheelchairs or scooters.

The Bryan Museum (1315 21st St/ Galveston, Texas 77550)
Housed in the beautifully restored Galveston Orphans Home, The Bryan Museum offers an immersive journey through the art, history, and culture of Texas and the American West. Featuring one of the world’s largest collections of Western artifacts, rare documents, and fine art, the museum brings the region’s rich stories to life—from frontier firearms and historic maps to works by artists who lived during the West’s Golden Age.
Founded by passionate collector J.P. Bryan, the museum spans over 20,000 square feet of exhibit space, with year-round permanent galleries and rotating special exhibitions.
Visiting the Bryan Museum costs trip goers nothing as the Friends of Freeman Library will be paying for our tour. Trip goers are responsible for paying for anything they choose to purchase as a souvenir.

***As this particular excursion is considered a "next door" trip and our reservation at the Bryan Museum is in the afternoon, we will not be opening the lobby as early as we have with previous excursions.
**** Lobby opening time is still to be announced.
