This Texas Secretary of State-mandated training allows Texas residents to be appointed as Volunteer Deputy Registrar and register eligible citizens to vote. The Harris County Tax Office (HCTO) in‑person trainings cover essential guidelines and best practices to support civic engagement in Harris County, Texas. Once deputized by the Harris County Voter Registrar, attendees will be able to register eligible Harris County residents to vote.

Participants will learn how property taxes are calculated and the role of the Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD) in property appraisals, exemptions, and protest processes. The program reviews key exemptions, including homestead, disability, and recent updates to Over 65/Disabled exemptions affecting Harris County, school districts, and Cities.
