Harris County Public Library’s Book Buddies is a FREE, fun-filled literacy program that pairs enthusiastic, trained teen volunteers (our amazing Big Buddies) with younger readers (Little Buddies) for 9 weeks of reading adventures!

The next session for the South Houston Branch Library will run from September 8 - November 10, 2026. The Buddies will meet on Tuesdays from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM.
Come discover what makes the rainforest one of the most important biomes on the planet and meet some of the unusual animals who call it home!
Ticket required for entry. Tickets will be handed out at the desk upstairs Saturday, October 10th. Limit: One ticket per person.

Teen Book Club has transformed into Read It and Eat! It's a book club with a twist--during book club, you create something yummy based on this month's theme and then feast. This month, the theme is Scary Books and Banned Books. Chat about your favorite books while making Terrifying Treats!
Readers of manga, graphic novels, books, and audiobooks are welcome! Even if you haven't read anything new lately, you can still join us! This program is for readers ages 13-18.

This orientation session will introduce participants to Cricut operation and software in the library. This orientation session is mandatory before patrons can schedule time to use the Cricut.
This class is appropriate for ages 8 and up.Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.Registration required.Drop off new or gently used Halloween costumes and accessories at the library and help stock the Boo-tique.
All ages and sizes are welcome!
