Book Buddies is a FREE literacy program that brings child and teens together to share the joy of reading. It pairs trained teen volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in K-3rd grades (Little Buddies).
Each Wednesday for 10 weeks, Big Buddies and Little Buddies will meet to read together and create positive experiences surrounding literacy. By the end of the session, we aspire that all Little Buddies will learn to love to read and form positive associations with reading.

Witness history in the making as we gather at the library to cheer on the crew of Artemis II! For the first time in over 50 years, humans are heading back to the lunar vicinity, and you have a front-row seat to the live NASA broadcast. This mission marks a pivotal step toward landing the first woman and first person of color on the Moon, and we’re celebrating with a day dedicated to space exploration and lunar discovery.

A teaching artist from the Houston Ballet will be here for a special Move and Read Aloud event. Dance to Learn is a movement integration program that approaches academic curriculum from a kinesthetic perspective. A storytime format, but with LOTS more movement and dancing! Recommended for children age 3-6 and their caregiver(s).
Learn how to book time with the Kingwood Library’s Glowforge Laser Cutter! This orientation session will introduce participants to laser cutting and engraving services in the library. Those who complete the class will then be able to request time to use a laser cutter at HCPL branches, at which time they will complete a short machine-specific orientation at the location of their choice. Attending this orientation is mandatory before patrons can request time to use a laser cutter. Registration is required.

This event is open to those ages 13 and older. Teens ages 13-16 must be accompanied by an adult guardian. Registration is required.
