An hour-long program weaving history, poetry, and song to honor Black legacy- past, present, and still unfolding. I Colori dell’Opera invites the community to “Beyond Emancipation: The History of Black History Month,” an immersive, performance experience that blends living history, spoken-word poetry, and powerful vocal music into one moving narrative. This program is designed for audiences of all ages and creates space for both celebration and reflection—connecting the legacy of Black history to the power of Black artistry on today’s stages.

Do you love crafting? Do you love caffeine? Join the arts & crafts program Make & Wake where we do a new project every month while sipping on coffee or tea, provided by the library. Feel free to bring your own cup of love to drink during the program. This occurs every first Tuesday of each month at 11am.


For this month, we will create a hot glue and painting masterpiece on canvas.

Teens are invited to use Kingwood Branch Library's new sewing machines to learn the basics and make the perfect book accessory: a book sleeve! Fun fabrics and all other materials will be provided. 

This program is for teens ages 13-18.

Teens are invited to make candles from scratch using soy wax and upcycled crayons! Add your own scents and colors for the perfect gift or addition to your space. All materials will be provided. Liability waivers will be required due to the handling of hot wax and must be turned in by the start of the program. Waivers are available at the upstairs reference desk.

This program is for teens ages 13-18.

Calling all teen artists! Whatever your medium is, you're invited to hang with other artists and work on your projects. Sketch pads, art pencils, markers, paints, yarn, crochet hooks, and more will be available for those who just want to show up and create. Snacks will also be provided.

Lion Dance Returns to the Library! Get ready for an unforgettable cultural celebration! Be sure to arrive promptly at 12:30 PM so you don’t miss a moment of the excitement of the Lion Dance. The performance will be followed by a traditional Chinese Yo-Yo demonstration and lively folk dances presented by talented FASCA students. Enjoy hands-on activities that bring Chinese culture to life, including making zodiac lanterns, tea tasting, and much more. Plus, don’t miss out on exciting giveaways throughout the event!

This class meets every 3 weeks on Tuesdays from 3 - 4 p.m. No registration required.

Tobacco use is the #1 cause of preventable deaths in the U.S. including cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, hookah, and chewing tobacco.

Register and join us for 4 consecutive sessions in February for a free tobacco and vaping cessation program focused on quitting support, healthier habits and long-term wellness. It will be hosted by Harris County Public Health.

Registration is required and for ages 18 & up.
