Harris County Public Library's Book Buddies is a FREE literacy program that pairs trained teen volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in K-3rd grade (Little Buddies) for 10 weeks to share the joy of reading. More information can be found on our website.
The next session for the Atascocital Branch Library will run from September 8 - November 17, 2026. The Buddies will meet on Tuesdays from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM.
Tales for Tots is a hands-on early literacy program for toddlers aged 24 months to 3 years, focusing on parent-child interactions. Each week is packed with fun as we sing, talk, read, and play, our way through exciting stories, catchy songs, wiggle-worthy movement, creative crafts, and more. A fun and engaging way to develop early literacy skills while making new friends!

Celebrate Roald Dahl Day with a night of childhood nostalgia, mayhem, and one very unexpected transformation.
Revisit a story that may have fascinated—or slightly terrified—you as a kid, as a nine-year-old boy has to save the world and suddenly finds himself much smaller than usual . Come hungry and enjoy our loaded baked potato bar while we take a trip back to the wonderfully weird movies of childhood.
Join our adults-only knitting and crochet group on the last Tuesday of each month for a relaxing evening of conversation. Bring your current projects, enjoy tea and treats, and chat with fellow crafters.

Discovery Time with Miss Christine is a fun and engaging story time for the whole family! Each week, we build literacy skills through the five essential practices: playing, singing, talking, reading, and writing.
For: Pre-School & Elementary (ages 3 - 10 years old). Younger siblings may participate under the active supervision of a parent or caregiver, provided they are registered and do not disrupt the program.
