Adults learning English are invited to join us each month for E.S.L. Cafe!

E.S.L.* Cafe is a monthly English practice program for adults. It is an informal & social time -- not a class. We play table games, board games, card games, & conversation games. Everyone practices English together in small groups. E.S.L. Cafe is a relaxed & supportive environment where everyone learns from each other!

Come when you can, stay as long as you want. All levels are welcome! Coffee & refreshments provided.

Bring your friends and enjoy two hours of free play on Kingwood Branch Library's Nintendo Switch, Wii and PS4! Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Just Dance, Madden and more are available to play! Just bring your friendly competition--snacks will be provided.

Join us for some holiday cheer as participants channel their creativity into mini gingerbread house decorating!

All materials will be provided, but outside candy can be brought in to make your gingerbread house extra special! This program is for teens ages 13-18.

Teens are invited to construct teeny-tiny books and fill clear ornaments with them! All materials and snacks will be provided.

Synopsis: 
The Muppets perform the classic Dickens holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit, the put-upon clerk of stingy Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine). Other Muppets -- Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear and Sam the Eagle -- weave in and out of the story, while Scrooge receives visits from spirits of three Christmases -- past, present and future. They show him the error of his self-serving ways, but the miserable old man seems to be past any hope of redemption and happiness.

This month we will be reading "Hummingbird" by Natalie Lloyd. On Friday, December 5th we will discuss chapters 1-17 and on Friday, December 19th we will discuss chapter 18 through the end of the book.

Learn how to book time with the Kingwood Library’s Glowforge Laser Cutter! This orientation session will introduce participants to laser cutting and engraving services in the library. Those who complete the class will then be able to request time to use a laser cutter at HCPL branches, at which time they will complete a short machine-specific orientation at the location of their choice. Attending this orientation is mandatory before patrons can request time to use a laser cutter.

Learn how to book time with the Kingwood Library’s Mayku Vacuum Former. This orientation session will introduce participants to vacuum forming services in the library, and the basics on how to create your own uniquely-shaped plastic molds. Those who complete the class will then be able to request time to use a vacuum former at HCPL branches, at which time they will complete a short machine-specific orientation at the location of their choice. Attending this orientation is mandatory before patrons can request time to use a vacuum former.

Learn how to book time with the Kingwood Library’s Cricut! This orientation session will introduce participants to using the Cricut in the library. Those who complete the class will then be able to request time to use a Cricut at HCPL branches, at which time they will complete a short machine-specific orientation at the location of their choice. Attending this orientation is mandatory before patrons can request time to use a Cricut.

This event is open to those ages 13 and older. Teens ages 13-16 must be accompanied by an adult guardian.
