Ready to make your next move? Join us for Teen Chess Night presented by First Checkmate! Test your strategy, improve your game, and compete in friendly matches with other teens.

All skill levels are welcome. 

Chess boards provided. 

Open to ages 11-18 only.

For high school and middle school students only. Meet in the computer lab for crafts, movies, & games.

Teens!  Learn how to felt a design onto a tote bag!  Print out your own design on an 11" x 8 1/2" paper, use a library stencil, or freehand a design.

Program begins at 1pm in the Teen Lounge on the 2nd floor. One tote per person.

(they can stay as long as they like...just clean up)

Drop off new or gently used Halloween costumes and accessories at the library and help stock the Boo-tique. 

All ages and sizes are welcome!

Join Future U for this beneficial and interactive Interviewing workshop, where you will get practical, current, and innovative guidance on how to prepare for and ACE your interview. We will discuss how to properly research your prospective employer, review and practice industry questions and scenarios, develop a rapport with the interviewer, as well as proper attitude and attire for the interview. Future U advisors will also be on hand for one-on-one mock interviewing after the presentation.

Harris County Public Library's Book Buddies is a FREE literacy program that pairs trained teen volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in K-3rd grade (Little Buddies) for 10 weeks to share the joy of reading. More information can be found on our website.

The next session for the Atascocital Branch Library will run from September 8 - November 17, 2026. The Buddies will meet on Tuesdays from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM.

Get ready for National Night Out 🎉 Bring the whole family for a night of fun, food, and community! It’s the perfect chance to connect with your fellow community members and the first responders who keep us safe every day.

Book Buddies is a free program that brings children and teen volunteers together to share the joy of reading. It pairs trained volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in Kindergarten through 3rd grades (Little Buddies). For 10 weeks, the Buddies meet once a week in the afternoon for 45 minutes of one-on-one shared reading.

The Fall cycle of Book Buddies will run from September 17th to November 19th.  Reading sessions will be in the library meeting room.
