In partnership with Creative Mental Wellness, DAISY’s Deep Reads is an in-person book club where mental health meets the magic of books. Each month, we’ll explore a new book that dives into topics like mental wellness, behavioral health, trauma, resilience, or substance use.

This isn’t just about reading—it’s about reflecting, connecting, and healing within our community. Whether it’s a memoir, insightful guide, or narrative nonfiction, each selection is carefully chosen to spark thoughtful conversation and inspire personal growth.

Join us at the Parker Williams Library Innovation Lab for our Sublimation Orientation!

This orientation session will introduce participants to the Sublimation services we offer at the library. Those who complete the orientation will then be able to request supervised time to use a Sublimation printer at any HCPL branch that has one. Attending this orientation is mandatory before patrons can request time to use a Sublimation printer in the future. This event is open to all ages. Children ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult guardian.

Classes are free and all materials are provided. Pre-registration is required before anyone can attend. To register for class, fill out the registration form, email us at pw@hcpl.net, or call the branch at 832-927-7870. Our Literacy Coordinator will help determine the right class for you and check to see if there are any open spaces available.

The Lunar New Year in 2026 marks the start of the Year of the Fire Horse, a powerful combination symbolizing energy, freedom, and progress.

We will celebrate by telling the story of the first Lunar New Year, playing games, and watching a performance of Diabolo.  

A diabolo is a juggling prop, like a yo-yo, consisting of an hourglass-shaped spool spun on a string stretched between two sticks held in each hand, allowing for complex tricks like tosses, catches, and spins, originating from ancient China.

This event is open to all ages. Snacks are provided.

Those who complete the orientation will then be able to request supervised time to use a laser cutter at any HCPL branch that has one. Watercolor for “Young at heART” adults meets every Tuesday morning to enjoy watercolor painting while commiserating with fellow artists! This friendly and social group is open to all adults and to all levels of art experience, including those who have never painted with watercolor at all. Sometimes the group works on individual projects and sometimes there is an art education period. Sometimes you will learn something new and sometimes you can teach something to others. Join in for a morning of beautiful art and fun conversation!
