We’re looking for dedicated and responsible teens to make meaningful contributions to this vital part of the Atascocita community. As VolunTEENs, you’ll play a key role in supporting library programs and services—your time, energy, and enthusiasm make a lasting impact on the people we serve.
VolunTEENs may be asked to:
- Maintain and organize the library collection (shelving, shelf-reading, straightening materials)
- Prepare program supplies and displays
- Help with clerical tasks, and maintaining a clean and orderly library space
- Assist with programs and crafts
Qualified VolunTEENs must be:
- Ages 13–18
- Able to file alphabetically and maintain accuracy
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions independently
- Physically able to bend, stoop, stretch, and lift boxes up to 20 pounds
- Able to push fully loaded book carts up to 40 pounds
- All HCPL programs and services are ADA compliant. Accommodations can be requested by contacting the library in advance.
Training:
Applicants must attend the MANDATORY orientation on Saturday, January 24. Applicants who miss the mandatory orientation will not be eligible to participate. Additional training and guidance will be provided by library staff during scheduled shifts.
Time Commitment:
VolunTEENs will be scheduled for a weekly two-hour shift from January 26 through May 15. To receive recognition at the end of the session, VolunTEENs must earn at least 20 hours and attend the majority of their assigned shifts

- Monday, December 29 at 10:00 AM – Applications available at the service desk
- Friday, December 16 at 5:00 PM – Application deadline (late applications are not accepted)
- Saturday, January 24 at 1:00 - 2:00 PM – Mandatory orientation
- January 26 - May 15 – Spring VolunTEEN session
