The Young Audiences of Houston brings the Healing Art of Clay to the JC LIbrary! Experience the mind-clearing benefits of connecting This course will be an opportunity to work with clay as an art medium. Each participant will become familiar with the basic methods of construction and sculptural techniques. The focus of the program will be to learn the history of clay and
learn hand building techniques like pinch, coil and slabs and how to use this medium to create a pot that tells a story.

Bilingual Storytime uses songs, age appropriate stories, and crafts/playtime to engage children and their parents/caregivers.

We will have the option of LEGO challenges or free build during our building session. At the end of our session you can share and display your creations at the JC Library for the month.

Join us for a 6-week Gardening class hosted by Texas Agrilife Extension! If you don't have space for an entire garden in your backyard (I know I don't living in an apartment) then this class is perfect for you! You will learn how to grow vegetables and plants in containers right in the comfort of your own home! You will also be able to take home lots of free goodies and resources after every class! The Houston Ballet is back for the Summer at the JC Library! Come ready to move and dance for the Move and Read Aloud Program brought to the JC Library by the Houston Ballet! Dance to Learn is a movement integration program that approaches academic curriculum from a kinesthetic perspective. A storytime format, but with LOTS more movement and dancing!

The CMH Workshop is back at the JC Library! Children’s Learning Institute, in partnership with the Children’s Museum Houston, has created workshops to encourage STEM development. During the workshop, families are presented with strategies that develop early STEM skills. Children and families engage in an interactive learning experience through a book read-aloud, followed by hands-on activity stations.

Calling all eco-heroes! Join us for Green Makers presented by the University of Houston-College of Natural Sciences and Math, an engaging program where we will focus on learning simple, powerful ways to live sustainably—from reducing waste to recycling creatively and protecting nature. Through activities and crafts, participants will discover how their everyday choices can make a big difference for the Earth.
