Asian Pacific Islander Heritage
Join us for this cultural workshop & celebration Saturday, May 31st at 2 pm for a two-hour event to honor Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Heritage Month by celebrating the rich stories and traditions that shape our communities.
Hosted by Dr. Pinky, a Filipina-American author and founder of Kuwento Co.. This workshop will inspire attendees of all ages to write, reflect, and create a mini zine to capture a moment of their own life or heritage.
For all ages./Supplies for the zines are provided./Registration is required.
Books & Banter is a monthly book club that will meet on the last Wednesday for May to explore books that celebrate and honor the richness of different cultures, movements and milestones. From the inspiring stories of Black History Month and the trailblazing women we recognize during Woman’s History Month to Disability Pride Month and more. Our club delves into diverse perspectives and voices that have shaped the world we live in. With each book we aim to spark meaningful conversations, reflect on history and the joys and struggles of the human experience.
Bring out the inner artist you did not know you had in our monthly painting class! No experience required, come relax and connect with great people in this simple yet fun class. All materials provided. In celebration of AAPI, our focus will be the Japanese traditional Torii Gate.


Celebrate Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month with this special performance presented by the Houston Grand Opera, based on the book Amy Wu and the Patchwork Dragon by Kat Zhang. Storybook Opera is a 30-minute singing and storytelling presentation.
We will be working as a family to create a piece of art using the Japanese art technique, chigiri-e.
Houston Grand Opera will be bringing a story to life through singing and storytelling. In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the featured story is Amy Wu and the Patchwork Dragon by Kat Zhang. This program is geared for grades PreK - 2nd.
Adults (18+) are invited to make this Hawaiian stir-fry.
Savor the flavors of heritage! Join us as we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with a delightful tasting of Japanese treats — a sweet journey through culture and history.
Japanese treats will include Boba, Mochi, Red bean paste buns and Matcha green tea.
