Step into the Literacy League, where stories come to life! Our Chapter Champions (teens) are ready to guide your Story Seekers (children; grades K-3rd) through the wonders of the written word in stories, information, and books.  The Literacy League is a 6-week-commitment literacy program to provide teen mentorship and guidance to K-3rd graders pursuant to establishing and promoting a culture of literacy and books. This program also provides families with fundamental information, support and tools to assist them in creating individual family reading programs that foster a love of reading in their homes.  While they explore, parents will join our Order of the Shelf-Keepers to learn how to turn your home space(s) into a world-class archive of learning and curiosity. Join the League—your adventure begins on Page One! NOTE*: Space is limited due to spatial limitations of the library building and for ensuring child safety. Registration applications are due before 6 p.m. FRIDAY, JANUARY 16, 2026. Incomplete and late applications may not be eligible or overlooked. So, be sure to complete and return the application to the front desk of the West University Branch Library. Admission to the program will be decided by lottery. Priority will be given to families who can attend all 6 Assembly meetings. You will be contacted by Thursday, January 22nd, if you are accepted.
